Club History

The club was founded in 1979 by the Ashburton Baptist Church ‘to keep the kids off the streets’ with one team that entered into the eastern suburbs churches league.

The club quickly grew and joined the Victorian Soccer Federation. The 90s saw the introduction of girls and womens teams, culminating with our senior womens team competing in the premier league, finishing runners up in 2015. With the establishment of the Womens National Premier League competition, Alamein FC was formed by the committee members of Ashburton.

The club became truly United in 2015 with the womens, juniors and mens program all combining under one committee.

Our senior mens gained promotion to State 3 after winning the league for the first time in our history in 2018.

Our 40th anniversary in 2019 was a celebration of our past and all the people that contributed to where we are today. We now have over 70 teams and 900+ members of all players of all abilities.

We look forward to at least another 40 years by connecting with our local community by continuing to ‘keep the kids off the streets’ by getting our members to fall in love with the game of football.
