President’s Message | EGM Notice

Season 2024 is up and running

Welcome to Season 2024!  Another big year is underway with our dedicated staff, committee members and volunteers all geared up to execute a full program of football for players from 4 to 65, across a total of 70 teams. AUSC celebrates its 45th year and we continue to provide a variety of football programs to support and immerse our club into the local and greater Melbourne community.

With the great progress being made on upgrades to the Dorothy Laver West and High St grounds, it will still be a challenging year with respect to ground allocations, training scheduling and match day fixturing. It took a lot of lobbying with Council, and they have responded with bringing forward funding for us. Watson Park is scheduled to be resurfaced at the end of this year with Warner Reserve following soon after.  We continue to lobby hard for a full pavilion reconstruction at Warner in 2026. I want to thank all members in advance for persevering and understanding as our staff does their very best to accommodate everyone. We acknowledge the short-term inconvenience to ensure that our grounds are brought up to the best possible standard for seasons to come.

In recognition of our Club’s commitment and dedication to the development of Women’s and Girls’ Football, we have been awarded a 1 Star rating in Football Australia’s Club Development Program. We are proud to be welcomed into the national Club Development Network, as a part of which we are committed to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive culture and a positive environment for all players, coaches, volunteers, and officials.

Finally, it is with mixed emotions that after four and a half seasons on Committee, I have decided to resign from my current position as President. I sincerely thank everyone who has supported me during my time on Committee.  I leave with some great memories and many friendships. As the club enters its 45th year, we should acknowledge the past and continually look to evolve for the future. The past 5 seasons have been a time of significant change and advancement in the Club’s history, which I hope endures for many years to come. I am proud of what has been achieved and I am excited for the Club’s future.

Ray Veratti, President
